Fellowship Office

The Graduate Fellowship Office (GFO) manages the competitions for several fellowship programs, including Graduate School Fellowships for incoming students, Doctoral Dissertation Fellowships for advanced Ph.D. students, and various endowment-funded fellowships for currently-enrolled students in specific fields. The office also administers several external programs, such as the National Science Foundation Predoctoral Fellowships, Fulbright Scholarships and the Luce Foundation Scholarships. In addition, the GFO manages two graduate international exchange programs -- the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD/Germany) and the special NTNU(Norway)/University of Minnesota graduate Fulbright Scholarship exchange.

Along with student fellowships, the GFO administers two professorship programs (new competitions held annually) and one lectureship -- the McKnight Land-Grant Professorship for junior faculty, the Distinguished McKnight University Professorship for outstanding mid-career full professors, and the special annual Guy Stanton Ford Lectureship.
