- You can make gifts of stocks, bonds, treasuries, and mutual funds that have increased in value which are the most tax-advantageous methods of making a charitable gift. These gifts can be made with a simple transfer of ownership. You may benefit from a charitable deduction for the fair market value of long-term capital gains property (up to 30 percent of your adjusted gross income) and pay no capital gains tax on the appreciation. - You can make a gift through payroll deduction. This is a convenient way for University faculty and staff to make a gift. Complete a payroll deduction form to make arrangements.
- You can increase the impact of your gift through your employer’s matching gift program. Each year more than 400 companies have matched gifts made by their employees to the University of Minnesota. Some companies may also match gifts from spouses and retirees.
